Lady Shamrocks Deny P-H

FORT COVINGTON - The Salmon River Central varsity girls basketball team closed out the NAC East Division season on Monday by overcoming an early deficit to gain a 46-35 win at home over Parishville-Hopkinton.

Amber Debyah tossed through a game-high 14 points as the Lady Shamrocks fell behind 10-8 by the end of the first quarter but outscored the Lady Panthers 9-4 in the second to take a 17-14 halftime lead. They sealed the win with a 15-9 fourth-quarter run. Karyss Terrance and Erica Francis added seven points apiece. Kaeli LaFrance chipped in six. Aubrey Phillips and Ashley Martin both finished with four while Lauren Cook and Krissy Tremblay closed out the Salmo River scoresheet with two points each.

Rebecca Remington and Michaela Cole netted 11 points apiece to lead the Lady Panthers. Natalie Remington contributed six followed by Elisabeth Lavelle with four and Ashley Schiavone with three.

The Lady Shamrocks finished the East Division season with a 9-5 record. Before heading into the upcoming Section 10 Class B playoffs, the Lady Shamrocks will host an interdivisional game against Edwards-Knox on Wednesday. The Lady Panthers (0-13) wrap up their regular season on Wednesday at home against East Division rival Brushton-Moira.

In the other NAC East Division games played Monday night, Brushton-Moira downed Colton-Pierrepont 57-16 and Chateaugay turned back Madrid-Waddington 34-26.

B-M 57, C-P 16: In Colton, the visiting Lady Panthers ran out to an 18-5 lead by the end of the first quarter then stretched it to 31-12 by halftime to come away with the win.

Alex Sochia anchored the Colts' scoring with seven points. Chelsea Huyck added four followed by Breanna Beaulieau with three and Nicole Smith with two.

Chenice Russell led all scorers with 15 points. Taylor Keck chipped in nine while Emily Lapage, Shayna Russell and Haylea Gary finished with seven points each followed by Kristyn Trimm with six, Sandra Martin with four and Kelsey Manchester with two.

The Lady Colts close out the regular season at St. Lawrence Central on Thursday starting at 6 p.m. The Lady Panthers improved to 12-0 atop the division standings with games at Parishville-Hopkinton (Wednesday) and Chateaugay (Friday) to wrap up the regular season.

Chateaugay 34, M-W 26: In Chateaugay, Raquel Fowler and Courtney Boyea netted 11 points apiece as the Lady Bulldogs gradually worked their way to a 27-16 lead through the first three quarters before being outscored 10-7 in the fourth. Cindy Harrigan added seven points toward the win.

Ashley Beldock paced the Lady Yellowjackets with eight points. Jenna Cryderman contributed six points while Shelby MacIntosh and Chelsea Ashley each netted four.

NON-LEAGUE GIRLS

A non-league varsity girls basketball game played Monday saw Tupper Lake hold off Indian Lake-Long Lake 46-41.

WEST DIVISION GIRLS

In two NAC West matchups on Monday, Hermon-Dekalb knocked off division-leading Harrisville 53-37 and Lisbon outscored Morristown 44-32.

NON-LEAGUE BOYS

In a non-league varsity boys basketball game played on Monday, Brushton-Moira dropped a 66-65 decision to Moriah of Section 7.

Moriah 66, B-M 65: In Brushton, the visiting Vikings outscored the Panthers 19-11 in the fourth quarter to come away with the win.

Josh Sevey fired through a game-high 24 points, including five three-pointers, in the losing cause. John Green netted 11 followed by Jason Aubrey with eight. Adrian Martin and Zach Lyon added six points each.
