Mom Sues Two Doctors
CANTON - Two Ogdensburg doctors are being sued by an Ogdensburg mother who claims her son's injured elbow wasn't treated properly.
Heather Abar, mother of Kaleb Abar, 110 St. Lawrence Ave., Ogdensburg, filed the action in state Supreme Court against Dr. Luc Perrier, an orthopedic surgeon, and Dr. James C. McLaughlin, both of Ogdensburg.
Defendants also include Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, and St. Lawrence Health Alliance Inc., 3 Lyon Place, Ogdensburg.
According to the suit, a cast was applied by Dr. Perrier when Kaleb Abar went to the emergency room with an injured elbow in September 2007.
After the emergency room visit, the first cast was removed and a second cast was applied by Dr. Perrier and Dr. McLaughlin.
The suit alleges that Kaleb Abar has constant pain, a loss of range of motion and a loss of strength because his elbow cast was not properly applied and was removed too soon.
He will require extra surgeries and has been left with permanent injuries, the suit claims. Mrs. Abar seeks compensation for losses related to her son's on-going medical care.
The action was prepared by attorney Aaron J. Ryder, Syracuse.
