Rent To Own Shop Allegedly Robbed Thursday Evening
OGDENSBURG - An employee at North Country Rent to Own had over $1,000 in cash and checks stolen during an alleged robbery Thursday night, according to Ogdensburg City Police.
City police were called to North Country Rent to Own, 1041 Paterson St., to investigate an alleged robbery at approximately 7:15 p.m. outside of the store.
According to Patrolman Scott L. Reed, an employee of the store was accosted by a white male between 6'3" and 6'5" in the parking lot as he was leaving work with a deposit envelope containing approximately $1,050 in cash and checks.
Ptl. Reed said that the suspect, clad in a dark hooded sweatshirt, allegedly pushed the store employee up against the building, snatched the deposit envelope and told the employee, who did not get a good look at the suspect, "don't move."
No weapon was seen by the store employee, who was not injured during the incident, according to the patrolman.
Ptl. Reed said that after robbery, the suspect reportedly got into a dark-colored Pontiac Grand-Am. The vehicle was last seen traveling west up East South Street.
City police as well as Ogdensburg-based state police were searching for the vehicle after it was reported without any luck.
