A fire destroyed a manufactured house at 11 O'Horo Road, town of Canton, Thursday morning. The structure was fully engulfed by flames when Canton firefighters arrived. The cause of the blaze was determined to be a portable propane heater left too close to combustible items. The house, owned by Cory and Rhonda Dihrberg, was being remodeled and unoccupied. Canton firefighters get ready to battle the fire. Providing mutual aid were departments from Rensselaer Falls, Morley, Pyrites, and DeKalb Junction. Potsdam, Hermon and Richville fire departments were on stand-by. The property was insured.

Canton Home Destroyed Due To Propane Heater

CANTON - A double wide manufactured home at 11 O'Horo Road was destroyed by fire Thursday morning.
St. Lawrence County fire investigators determined the likely cause of the blaze at the property of Cory and Rhonda Dihrberg was a portable propane heater left too close to combustible items.
The home was being remodeled and was unoccupied. The trailer was insured.
Canton firefighters, called to the fire at 10:22 a.m., were assisted by volunteers from Rensselaer Falls, Morley, DeKalb Junction and Pyrites. There were no injuries. The fire was out by 12:55 p.m.
Departments on standby were Potsdam, Hermon and Richville.
