Arthur D. Frisina
OGDENSBURG - Funeral services for Arthur D. Frisina, 74, of 415 Lafayette St., Ogdensburg, will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home, followed by a funeral mass at Notre Dame Church, Ogdensburg with Rev. F. James Shurtleff, officiating. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Frisina died at his home on Tuesday evening, March 9, 2010 after being ill for the past year.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy; four sons, Arthur and his wife, Victoria of Brownville, N.Y., Robert and his wife, Lori of Hammond, Brian and his wife, Paulette of Seattle, Wash., Kevin and his wife, Kimberly of Ogdensburg; three daughters, Mrs. Rafael (Carla L. Frisina) Santiago, Royce City, Texas, Mrs. Jack (Cathy) Osgood, and Stephanie Frisina, both of Ogdensburg; two sisters, Marion Frisina of Ogdensburg, Rosalie Pike of Plattsburgh; one brother, James and his wife, Anne of Ogdensburg; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceasing him were five sisters, Rita Mae Frisina, Frances Burton, Anna Jones, Isabelle Frisina, and Nancy Frisina. Also, five brothers predeceased him, Michael, Anthony, Joseph, and Richard Frisina.
He was born on April 22, 1935 in Ogdensburg, the son of Anthony F. and Marion E. Gallipeau Frisina. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1953, and married Nancy Bouchard on Jan. 30, 1954 at Notre Dame Rectory.
In his youth he worked as a bowling pinsetter at a local bowling alley, and also at the former Strand Theatre. His first job after high school was as a Merchant Marine sailing the Great Lakes for a year. He then became employed in shoe retailing, a career which covered 56 years.
He worked in sales for the former Triangle Shoe store, Milia's Shoe store, Endicott-Johnson Shoe store, Little Red Shoe House, and Foot Prints Shoe store. He served as District Manager for Triangle, Endicott-Johnson, Little Red Shoe House stores. He also worked part-time at the former Seaway Drive-in theatre, and last worked as the BBQ man at Stewart's Convenience store on State Street in Ogdensburg, retiring three years ago.
He enjoyed sitting on his front porch, and playing on his computer. He was a member of Notre Dame parish, and the Ogdensburg Elks Lodge No. 772.
