ASSAULT - MASSENA - Two Akwesasne men have been charged with assault after they were allegedly involved in an altercation with another man early Sunday morning at Friar Tuck's. Village police charged David J. Johnson, 25, of 412 state Route 37, Akweasne, and Jason R. Thomas, 26, of Akwesasne with third-degree assault. Police said one of the men punched Andy Brooks in the back of the head and when he fell to the ground both men allegedly kicked him repeatedly. Brooks was treated at Massena Memorial Hospital for bruising to his ribs and head. Johnson and Thomas were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear April 6 in Massena Village Court.

INADEQUATE HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Wendy L. Kennedy, 31, of Massena was ticketed for operating a vehicle with inadequate headlamps following a traffic stop at 8:50 p.m. Monday on Parker Avenue.

CRIMINAL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Connie M. Shorette, 36, of 9 Pearl St., Apt. 3, Brushton, with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was reportedly found to be in possession of 1.4 grams of cocaine following a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon on Rooseveltown Road initiated by the U.S. Border Patrol. She was arraigned by Massena Justice Eric J. Gustafson and was released under the supervision of the probation department. She is scheduled to reappear in court on March 30.
