Potsdam Teams Split Mens Games
POTSDAM - CJ's-McDuff's turned back CKON-Fort's Brickhouse while Scoops fell to Pepsi-The Place in North Country Mens Summer Soccer matchups on Wednesday.
CJ's-McDuff's 4, CKON-Fort's Brickhouse 1: Mike Zelyez converted on an assist from Nate Pichette to account for the lone goal in the losing cause.
Pepsi-The Place 4, Scoops 3: Erik Whitcombe netted a pair of goals while Elijah Finley and Jordan Decker struck for singletons as Pepsi-The Place overcame a 3-0 deficit for the win. Bill Gemmill was the winning goaltender.
The lone other game reported saw Parkway of Canton and LeBerge and Curtis battle to a 3-3 draw while Frary Funeral home against Ogdensburg AMP was postponed.
Parkway of Canton 3, LeBerge-Curtis 3: Morgan White, Dean Akins, and Kelly Geary all produce singletons for Parkway. Ryan Hayes scored twice with Kolby Young adding a third.
Scott Richardson of Parkway and Andy Sutherland of LeBerge-Curtis each made nine saves.
GIRLS U-17
Heuvelton 4, Brasher Falls 3: In a Select Summer Soccer Girls U-17 Division game played in Heuvelton, the home team overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit with two penalty kick goals four minutes apart midway through the second half then fashioned the game-winner in the closing minutes after Brasher Falls had pulled even at 3-3.
Ashley Thayer opened the scoring for BF off an assist from Erika Losey 20 minutes into the game. Heuvelton tied the game 10 minutes later before Brandi Thomas put BF back on top with an unassisted goal with five minutes left in the first half.
Heuvelton converted on penalty kicks in the 21st and 25th minutes of the second half before Thayer knotted the score at 3-3 with eight minutes remaining.
Gabby Durant stood tall working the crease in the loss for BF which returns to action on Monday at home against Parishville-Hopkinton starting at 6:30 p.m.
