CANTON - William J. "Jack" Veitch, 82, of Lady Lake, Fla., and formerly of Canton, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in Florida.

Calling hours will be held at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Saturday, July 31 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Jones, pastor of the Canton United Methodist Church officiating and burial in Fairview Cemetery in Canton.

Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; two daughters, Cynthia and Daniel Anderson of Albany, and Susan Terrillion and Jeffrey Terrillion of Connecticut; two sisters, Ruth Ladouceur of Massena, and Ellyn Kelly of Massena.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew (and Jessica) Terrillion, Pamela Anderson (and Scott) Luc, Darrick (and Molly) Terrillion, Megan (and Kevin) Terrillion; great-grandchildren, Makalya Rose Terrillion and Connor Matthew Luc; several nieces and nephews.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Annie Veitch; and his brother, Elwood Veitch.

Jack was born Oct. 16, 1927 in Waddington, the son of Raymond and Annie Barkley Veitch. He graduated from Waddington High School in 1943 and served in the Army in 1946.

Jack married Barbara Peters on April 9, 1949 in Canton. The couple lived in the Albany area where Jack worked for Millbrook until 1971. They moved to Canton where they lived for many years until moving to Florida several years ago.

Jack enjoyed golf, gardening, painting pictures, woodworking, hunting, but most of all, the time spent with his family.

He was a member of the Canton United Methodist Church and the Lions Clubs of Canton and Albany where he enjoyed donating his time to help provide others with the opportunity for improved eyesight.
