Pepsi Cola Takes State Park Golf League Lead; Tournament, Awards Dinner Sept 20
With three weeks left in the season, Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers took control of the St. Lawrence State Park Men's Golf League lead over previous leader State Golf. Pepsi posted a sixth place weekly finish carding a even round for 7.5 points.
Pepsi Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers (Joe Tracy 50, Dick Wright 56, Scott Wright 51, Warren Putman 49) has tallied 99 points on the season. State Park (Bill Meashaw, Robin Smith, Mel Fitchette, Bob Williams) and Mort Backus and Sons (Sean Backus 51, Ray Mead 45, John McBath 42, Jordan Backus 39 and eagle on 16) are second and third with 99.5 and 100 points.
Hammer Hockies led by George Silver's 41, Hal Barry's 42, Jim Kelly's 44 and Jim Chadwick's 44 carded a -12 for one point win for weekly honors. Hillbillies shot a -9 for second place and Northern Physical Therapy and Worden's Pub finished third at -5 for 3.5 points.
Derek VanHouse, Jerry Guimond, Ed Barr, and Tom Cobb shared medalist honors at 38. Pete Shea earned Low Net at -5.
Awards Banquet Sept. 20
League play will end on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. Dinner and awards will be Sept. 20 preceeded by a tournament which tees off at 4:30 p.m. The tournament will use a two-man format with a blind draw. One A golfer (45 average and under) and one B golfer (46 average and over) will form the teams.
