Laprade Fined For Threats
MASSENA - A Massena man charged with entering Seaway Valkley Eye Care and making threats has been fined and placed under a one-year conditional discharge.
Massena Justice James M. Crandall fined Corey P. Laprade, 31, of 248 Andrews St., Massena, $250 and a $125 surcharge after he pleaded guilty to trespassing. He was also placed under the conditional discharge and the court signed an order of protection directing Laprade to stay away from Dr. Gary Torbey.
He had been charged with third-degree criminal trespass and second-degree harassment following the incident at 12:36 p.m. June 9.
Dr. Torbey indicated LaPrade had entered his office and confronted him by saying, "You are ... done. I know where you live and where your vehicles are," the Massena opthamologist told police.
LaPrade also allegedly placed his hands on Dr. Torbey's chest and pushed him and ignored approximately a half dozen orders to leave the premises, according to court documents.
"I know I meant to inflict no bodily harm or injury. I just wanted to make my point. That's it," LaPrade told the court.
