MACOMB - David B. Duff resigned his position Monday from several groups after police reportedly found several marijuana plants growing on his town of Macomb property.

Mr. Duff said he resigned from his seats on the St. Lawrence County Planning Board, the Macomb town Planning Board and the Hammond town Wind Advisory Committee.

The marijuana plants were discovered last week on Mr. Duff's South Woods Road property by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force and state police, police said. No arrest has been made yet.

When asked whether the marijuana plants on his property belonged to him, he responded, "I will talk with you about it down the road."

St. Lawrence County Planning Director Keith J. Zimmerman said Monday that Mr. Duff's resignation was effective immediately. He had been a county Planning Board member since 1997.

"We certainly appreciated all his contributions to the Planning Board," Mr. Zimmerman said.
