Gouverneur Teen Injured In Group Assault
GOUVERNEUR - A teen suffered a fractured arm when he reportedly was attacked by four people, including three teenage girls, early Sunday, state police said.
Shayne D. Miller, 20, of 61 Clinton St.; Alivia M. Vaughns, 17, of 68 Austin St.; and Brittany A. Miller, 18, of 1028 Route 11, all of Gouverneur, and Pamela J. Fifield, 16, of Fulton, were each charged on Sunday with second-degree gang assault, a felony, troopers said.
The victim, Matthew A. Rivers, 17, of 205 E. Main St., Apt. 1, was outside his apartment when the alleged attack took place, troopers said. Mr. Miller allegedly tried to punch Mr. Rivers, who then punched him in the face. A police report said during the scuffle that Mr. Rivers was hit several times by Ms. Vaughns and Ms. Miller. A witness also told troopers that one of them had their arm around Mr. Rivers's neck.
All four denied being involved in the attack when questioned, troopers said. A motive for the attack wasn't known. No weapons were involved in the attack.
The suspects were arraigned in Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond. Protection orders were issued for Mr. Rivers. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Thursday.
