Lionel G. LaCourse

WADDINGTON - Mr. Lionel G. "Pete" LaCourse, age 77, of 282 River Road, passed away on Saturday evening, Aug. 28, 2010 at Massena Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Wednesday.

Pete was born Jan. 9, 1933 in Massena, the son of Horace O. and Juliette A. Matheau LaCourse. He graduated from Massena High School. On Aug. 30, 1952, he married Helen Beaudet at St. Maryâ Catholic Church in Massena. She predeceased him on Jan. 16, 2002.

He first worked at Alcoa before going to Reynoldâs Metal, where he became a ship mechanic. At the age of 62, he retired after many years of service. Pete was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Waddington and was also a bee keeper for many years. He enjoyed fishing and doing carpentry work.

Pete is survived by his 7 children, Steve LaCourse and his wife, Robin of Massena; Gary LaCourse and his wife, Joyce of Rochester; Cathy Abrena and her husband, Jose of Balston Lake, NY; Susan Quenelle and her husband, Terry of Saratoga, NY; Timmie LaCourse of Massena; David LaCourse of San Diego, CA; Daniel LaCourse of Kansas City, KS; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Julian LaCourse and his wife, Phyllis of Massena; Claude LaCourse and his wife, Rita of North Carolina; Ronald LaCourse and his wife, Lynn of Syracuse; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Guy H. and Marcil LaCourse.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
