Gwenna E. Barr

OGDENSBURG - A Funeral Mass for Gwenna E. Barr, 77 of 15 Barr Road, Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held today from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barr passed away on Tuesday (Aug. 31, 2010) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving are her children, Doxandra Kinch and husband Robert, Cheryl Myers and husband Harold, Susan Barr and companion Dennis "Squeak" Montroy, Gregory Barr and wife Ann, Linda Abar and husband Randy, Timothy Barr and wife Dawn, Nicholas Barr and wife Annette, Paul Barr and wife MaryBeth, Steven Barr and wife Renee and Franklin Barr Jr. and fiancee' Rachel Pusateri, all of Ogdensburg; 27 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin T. Barr Sr., on Feb 10, 2008; a brother, Robert Bothwell; and her step-mother, Ellen Bothwell.

Gwenna was born June 12, 1933 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of Robert and Esther (Ormiston) Bothwell. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in1951.

She married Franklin T. Barr on May 3, 1952 at St. Mary's Cathedral.

Her working career began at the Lakeside Restaurant until she became employed at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, where she worked as their food service manager for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting, attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events and spending time on the river with her family.

Memorial contributions have been requested to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center.
