TUPPER LAKE - The Potsdam Central varsity football team opened the 2010 Northern Conference season by churning out a 38-14 win on the road over Tupper Lake on Friday night.

Zac Linsky, a senior from Norwood-Norfolk, ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries and Jesse Bradish rumbled for 81 yards and three trips across the goal line on 13 rushes to lead a potent Potsdam offense. Ifem Ononye carried the ball seven times for another 60 yards while quarterback John Coleman added another 40 yards on four tries and connected on a 17-yard pass to Josh Adams on his only attempt.

Morgan Stevens completed four of 13 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown while allowing two interceptions in the losing effort. Josh Facteau pulled down a 25-yard pass and Kyle Keniston had an 8-yard touchdown reception. Facteau was also the leading Lumberjack rusher with 74 yards on 13 tries. Jordan Garrow accounted for the other Tupper Lake six-pointer on a 77-yard kick-off return early in the third quarter after Bradish's third TD of the game had pushed the Potsdam lead to 32-0 just 1:32 into the third quarter.

Linsky opened the scoring on a one-yard run 6:19 into the game. Bradish then had a pair of one-yard touchdown bursts in the second quarter and the Sandstoners went 3-3 on two-point conversions to go ahead 24-0 at the half.

The teams then traded touchdowns in the third quarter before failing to score again in the fourth.

The Sandstoners host Canton next Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

OFA 40, FA 6: In a game which started 45 minutes late due to lightning in the Ogdensburg area and was extended by a series of injuries to the visiting Huskies, the Blue Devils broke things open with 28 unanswered points in the second quarter after having gone ahead 7-0 by the end of the first.

The Blue Devils eventually pushed their lead to 40-0 before the Huskies put together their only scoring drive in the closing stages of regulation.

Jared Morrow sparked the OFA offense, connecting on six of eight passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns, a nine-yard hook-up with Joel King that opened the scoring and a 43-yarder to Owen Luckie that helped make it 28-0. Morrow also ran the ball 10 times for 45 yards and a touchdown whle Kris Folsom went for 33 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries. Zach Sharpe had a team-high 52 yards on eight tries while Eric Barr, who also connected on four of six PAT kicks, added 24 yards on six totes.

FA, which lost three starters to injury in the first half including starting quarterback Jordan Cosgrove, scored its only touchdown of the night when Mitch Gallagher pitched a nine-yard pass to Zachery Peck with 2:46 left in regulation.

Brad Doe had 59 yards on six carries to anchor the FA offense. Taylor Hilyard tallied another 34 yards on 11 rushes. Gallagher connected on two of six passes for 23 yards and was picked off twice.
