Clarence (Benny) F. Richards
POTSDAM - Funeral services for Clarence (Benny) F. Richards, Sr., 78, of Maplewood Nursing Home in Canton and formerly of West Stockholm, will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam. Father Douglas Lucia of St. Mary's Church in Canton will be officiating. The burial will take place in the West Stockholm Cemetery following the ceremony.
Friends may call at Garner Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Clarence passed away on Friday (Sept. 3, 2010) at the Canton Potsdam Hospital.
Mr. Richards was born on Nov. 11, 1931 in Dickinson Center, the son of Milan Richards and Margaret McIntyre.
He married Ann Robinson on Aug. 16, 1956 at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam.
A graduate of Potsdam High School in 1950, Mr. Richards was a lifelong farmer from 1950 until 2001. He was also a member of the West Stockholm Volunteer Fire Department.
Clarence Richards is survived by his wife, Ann Richards and a son, Clarence Richards, Jr., both of West Stockholm; two daughters, Patricia Richards of Lakewood, Calif., and Priscilla (Dale) Breault of Chateaugay; two grandchildren, Samuel and Charles Breault, also of Chateaugay; a brother, Warren H. (Rena) Richards of Oswego; and two sisters, Ella (David)Whitten of Orange Beach, Ala., and Dorothy Wilcox of Gulf Shores, Ala.
