Massena, Potsdam Girls Dominate NACDebuts
CANTON - Dominique Valancius scored twice, once in each half, and Nyssa LaClair added an unassisted goal after intermission on Tuesday as the Massena Central girls soccer team shutout Canton 3-0 in the Northern Athletic Conference Central Division opener for each team.
Taylor Romeo set up the first half goal while LaClair picked up the assist on the second Valencius goal.
Ashley Hawn made seven saves in goal for the shutout while Kara Locey made nine saves for Canton.
Also in the Central Division, Potsdam shutout Norwood-Norfolk 4-0, Franklin Academy edged Tupper Lake 3-2 while OFA edged Gouverneur 3-2.
Potsdam 4, N-N 0: At Norfolk, Keeley Rice scored twice in the second half, Cassie Grace and Tess Hazen each scored in the first half while Hazen also picked up an assist as Potsdam blanked the Lady Flyers.
Beth Waters (0 saves) and Monique Cornett (8 saves) combined in goal for the shutout while Brynn Tebo made 10 saves for N-N.
FA 3, Tupper Lake 2 (OT): At Malone, the Lady Huskies came back from a 2-0 deficit to prevail over the Lumberjacks. Brittany Marshall scored twice and Katie Lavoie connected for the gamewinner in overtime.
Kyla Kenyon scored twice for Tupper Lake.
Brianne Cositore made 13 saves for FA while Kelsie St. Louis had 21 stops for the Lumberjacks..
OFA 3, Gouverneur 2: At Gouverneur, Meg Dodge, Chelsea Martin and Emily LaFleur scored for OFA while Liz Perrigo and Jaelyn Gotham connected for Gouverneur.
Alysha Bracy made seven saves for OFA while Nictoria Bates had 14 saves for the Lady Cats.
