WASHINGTON - Figures from the 2010 census are not available yet, but if the latest estimates are accurate St. Lawrence County saw its population fall from 111,931 in 2000 to 109,406.
The numbers reflect estimates published annually by the Census Bureau and are not based on Census 2010 counts, the agency said. Census figures for New York will be released in the coming weeks, according to the Census Bureau.
Jefferson County's population in July 2010 was about 117,489, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated Monday. That's in an increase from the official count of 111,738 in the 2000 census. The figure for 2010 is lower than the population in 2007, which was estimated at 117,762.
