FUGITIVE WARRANT - MASSENA - A Massena man was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail after U.S. Border Patrol agents learned the man was wanted on a warrant from the state of New Jersey.
Border patrol agents stopped a rental vehicle with Massachusetts plates being operated by Dean J, Maza, 34, of 59 Liberty Ave., Massena, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Bayley Road.
During the stop, agents discovered authorities in Bergen County, N.J., had issued a warrant for Maza's arrest on March 25 after he allegedly failed to appear in superior court on a drug possession charge. He was then turned over to the Massena Village Police Department for processing.
Maza appeared before Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow on the fugitive from justice warrant and was remanded to the county jail pending extradition proceedings in county court.
MODIFIED MUFFLER - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Jonathan A. Hughes, 35, of Waddington for operating a motorcycle with a modified muffler following a traffic stop at 6:33 p.m. Friday on Sandstone Drive.
FELONY DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Jonathan E. Marshall, 25, of Rochester with a felony count of driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 3:22 a.m. Saturday on Maple Street. He was also ticked for making a U-turn, speed in zone (42/30) and failure to signal turn after police allegedly observed his vehicle make a U-turn on Market Street and fail to signal a turn from Market Street onto Maple Street. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.17 percent. He was arraigned by Potsdam Villagre Justice Nicholas Pignone and released on his own recognizance.
OPEN CONTAINER - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Trevor J. Carr, 20, of Gouverneur with drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on highway following a traffic stop at 12:34 a.m. Sunday on Market Street. Police said Carr was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for making an illegal signal.
FALSELY REPORTING - POTSDAM - Three Potsdam-area residents face multiple charges after an April Fool's prank pulled on a friend led several emergency services agencies to respond to a personal injury accident.
Village police charged Matthew P. Williams, 19, of Potsdam; Kevin D. Weems, 20, of Norwood; and Brooke M. Labaff, 20, of Norwood; with aggravated harassment, falsely reporting an incident and sixth-degree conspiracy. Police said the trio were charged following an investigation into an incident which took place on April 1, 2011 when they allegedly reported to a friend that they had been involved in a personal injury accident.
The friend became alarmed and notified St. Lawrence County Central Dispatch, eliciting the response of the New York State Police, St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Norwood Police Department, Norwood Fire Department, Norwood First Responders, and Potsdam Rescue Squad. Police said their investigation revealed the incident to be an April fool's prank.
DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Margaret R. Kling, 22, of Highland Mills with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 1:41 a.m. Sunday on Main Street. She was also ticketed for driving while using a cell phone. She reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit.
DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Jeffrey S. Jessmer, 23, of Potsdam with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 2:20 a.m. Saturday on Munson Drive. He was also ticketed for operating a vehicle with Inadequate headlights. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.10 percent. Police said the traffic stop was made after they observed a vehicle traveling on Elm Street with no headlights on.
TRESPASSING - POTSDAM - Three 20 year olds were charged with trespassing after police responded to a report of people on the roof of the old Snell Hall building on Clarkson's downtown campus at 4:34 a.m. Sunday. Police said the three men were located inside the building. Charged with trespassing were Ian M. Donnelly, 20, of Cumberland, Maine; John G. Warzala, 20, of Schenectady; and Matthew R. Bonner, 20, of Killington, Vt. Bonner was additionally charged with unauthorized use of another's license.
STOLEN PROPERTY - WADDINGTON - A Lisbon man stole maple syrup equipment belonging to Rutley Maple Farms in October from a Route 37 property they rented, state police said.
Lance A. Jensen, 28, of 350 County Route 30, was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, state police said. Some of the equipment, including tubing and vacuum motor, was found at a Picketville Road property in Parishville that Mr. Jensen rented, troopers said.
He was issued an appearance ticket for Parishville Town Court.
CELL PHONE - MASSENA - Kerry A. LeGrow, 26, of Massena was ticketed by village police for using a cell phone while driving following a traffic stop at 5:20 p.m. Thursday on East Orvis Street.
DRIVING OUT OF RESTRICTION - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Johnny D. Square, 17, of Massena for driving out of restrictions placed on his license following a traffic stop at 9:46 p.m. April 13 on Dana Street.
AUO - MASSENA - Village police charged Mark A. Villnave, 33, of Plattsburgh with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 8:20 a.m. Thursday on South Racquette Road.
UNSAFE TIRES - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Julius J. Cook, 24, of Akwesasne for unsafe tires and no vehicle inspection following a traffic stop at 1:38 p.m. Thursday on Main Street.
INADEQUATE HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Richard D. Ober Jr., 23, of Norwood, was ticketed for operating a vehicle with inadequate headlights following a traffic stop at 9:30 p.m. April 12 at the intersection of State Rt. 37 and South Main Street.
INADEQUATE TAIL LAMPS - MASSENA - Jennifer M. Robinson, 34, of Ogdensburg was ticketed for operating a vehicle with inadequate tail lamps following a traffic stop at 8:25 p.m. April 13 on Highland Avenue.
NO HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Vaughn P. Cole, 27, of Massena for operating an unregistered vehicle with no headlights and an inadequate exhaust following a traffic stop at 9:31 p.m. April 11 on Liberty Avenue.
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Dawn M. Collett, 25, of Gouverneur for operating an uninsured vehicle with a suspended registration following a traffic stop at 7:38 p.m. April 11 on Main Street.
INADEQUATE HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Cheng Yu Hai, 37 of Massena was ticketed for operating a vehicle with inadequate headlights following a traffic stop at 8:40 p.m. April 11 on East Orvis Street.
INADEQUATE HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Stacy E. Barkley 20, of Massena was ticketed for operating a vehicle with inadequate headlights following a traffic stop at 8:40 p.m. April 11 on State Rt. 37.
SPEED IN ZONE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Debra L. Aldous, 39, of North Lawrence for speeding in a 30 mile per hour zone following a traffic stop at 10:55 a.m. April 11 on South Racquette Road.
SPEED IN ZONE - MASSENA - Gary M. White, 59, of Hogansburg was ticketed for speeding in a 30 mile per hour zone following a traffic stop at 2:56 p.m. Friday on South Racquette Road.
UNLICENSED OPERATION - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Keena M. King, 26, of Soye, Que., for unlicensed operation of a vehicle and operating a vehicle without headlights following a traffic stop at 9:20 p.m. Thursday on state Rt. 37 in Massena.
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Tammy L. McMahon, 49, of Massena for operating a vehicle with a suspended registration following a traffic stop at 10:28 p.m. Thursday on Main Street.
EXPIRED REGISTRATION - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Samantha M. Carney, 23, of Massena for operating a vehicle with an expired registration following a traffic stop at 2:55 a.m. Friday on Andrews Street.
STOP SIGN - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Tarek B. Makdouli, 36, of Massena for running a stop sign following a traffic stop at 10:55 a.m. April 8 at the intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Grove Street.
SPEED IN ZONE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Cassie E. Clarke, 52, of Brushton for speeding in a 30 mile per hour zone following a traffic stop at 2:40 p.m. April 9 on South Racquette Road.
STOP SIGN - MASSENA - Paul J. Hayes, 51, of Massena, was ticketed by village police for running a stop sign following a traffic stop at 9:29 a.m. April 8 at the intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Grove Street.
MOVING VIOLATION - MASSENA - Franklin E. Truedell, 20, of Chase Mills was ticketed by village police for a suspected moving violation following a traffic stop at 3:21 p.m. April 7 on Stephenville Road.
STOP SIGN - MASSENA - Amanda M. Gilbert, 27, of Massena was ticketed by village police for running a stop sign following a traffic stop on April 8 at the intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Grove Street.
OPERATING WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Brynn L. Dickerson, 20, of Norfolk for operating a motor vehicle without headlights following a traffic stop at 11:39 p.m. April 7 on East Orvis Street.
INADEQUATE MUFFLER - MASSENA - Heath T. Spencer, 27, of Norfolk was ticketed by village police for operating a vehicle with an inadequate muffler following a traffic stop at 11:58 p.m. April 7 on South Main Street.
INADEQUATE EXHAUST - MASSENA - Michael J. LaMotte, 39, of Massena was ticketed by village police for operating a vehicle with an inadequate exhaust system following a traffic stop at 12:14 a.m. April 7 on Andrews Street.
INADEQUATE HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Tina L. Hanna, 49, of Massena was ticketed by vilage police for operating a vehicle with inadequate headlights following a traffic stop at 12:38 a.m. April 7 on Maple Street.
UNSAFE LANE CHANGE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Ashley L. Trimm, 28, of Massena with making an unsafe lane change following a traffic stop at 4:48 p.m. April 7 on Park Avenue.
DWI - NORFOLK - Thomas R. Logan, 55, of 27 S. Main St., Norfolk, was charged Monday with aggravated driving while intoxicated when stopped on Route 56 in Norfolk, state police said. He registered a 0.26 percent blood alcohol content.
DWI - POTSDAM - Robert L. Harder, 58, Albany, was charged Tuesday with driving while intoxicated, not having head lights on and having an expired inspection when stopped on Route 56 in Potsdam, state police said. He registered a 0.15 percent BAC.
