Potsdam Boys Skate Past Islanders

POTSDAM - Potsdam roared back from an early 1-0 deficit to defeat the Alex-Bay-TI Islanders 5-2 on Friday night in Northern Athletic Conference Division I boys hockey action at Pine St. Arena.

Down 1-0 after a Kyle Delaney goal at 3:05 of the firt period, Potsdam scored twice in the first period as Trevor Keleher scored on the power play from Chad Varney and Robbie Scott before J.D. Greenway connected for the first of his two goals from Jacob Woods and Jason Cardinal.

Varney scored the lone goal of the second period with an unnassisted effort and Woods made it 4-1 Potsdam early in the third with another solo effort.

After Justin Ward made it 4-2 Islanders at 11:33, Greenway closed out the scoring with an empty-netter at 13:44.

Sam Miller made 22 saves in goal for the Sandstoners while Cody James made 21 stops for the Islanders (5-10, 2-6 NAC).

Potsdam (9-5-2, 5-1-2 NAC) hosts Franklin Academy today at 1 p.m. in NAC action.
