Warriors Fall to Brooklyn
BROOKLYN - A 3-0 deficit by the end of the first period turned out to be too much for the Akwesasne Warriors to overcome on Friday as they dropped an 8-3 Federal Hockey League decision to Brooklyn at the Aviator Sports and Recreation complex.
The Warriors battled back to cut the difference to 3-2 early in the second period when Pierre Dagenais broke through for goals at 1:26 and 3:14 but Brooklyn countered with the next three goals of the period to put the game out of reach.
Kris McCathy and Samuel Sanford-Roy combined to set up the first Akwesasne goal of the night. Sylvain Deschatelets and Jeremy Van Hoof assisted on the second.
Van Hoof netted the third Warriors' goal at 9:10 of the third period assisted by Dagenais and Jean Rene Forget.
Lucas Schott and Casey Mignone struck for two goals apiece to anchor the Brooklyn offense. Nick Petriello, Jesse Felten, Nenry Coxe and Ken Trentowski netted the others while KC Timmons recorded three assists.
Adam Thompson (14:44, 13 saves) and David Plouffe (45:16, 33 saves) shared goaltending duties in the losing effort. Josselin St. Pierre stopped 26 shots working the crease for the win.
The Warriors are now slated to host Delaware tonight at the Ed Lumley Arena in Cornwall, Ontario, starting at 7:35 p.m.
