NORFOLK — State police investigators Friday evening closed the scene of the Jason M. Wing murder investigation, 281 Grantville Road, and turned it back over to its owner.

Dustin J. Trimm, 37, of 325 County Route 49, Winthrop, was charged with second-degree murder Wednesday following a lengthy investigation into Mr. Wing’s disappearance.

Trimm allegedly shot Mr. Wing, 21, during the last week of August or the first week of September 2010 and buried his body on the Grantville Road property, according to paperwork filed Wednesday night in Norfolk Town Court.

According to an email from St. Lawrence County Coroner James M. Sienkiewycz Friday evening, the remains found on Grantville Road are those of Mr. Wing.

An autopsy was performed Friday evening at Massena Memorial Hospital by Dr. Michael Sikirica, Albany, who testified Friday morning in the Wayne T. Oxley Jr. murder trial. No results were released.

State police Maj. Richard C. Smith Jr. told reporters at a news conference Thursday the scene would remain open while investigators searched for a murder weapon. Police would not say Friday night whether they recovered a weapon before closing the scene.

Trimm was arraigned by Town Justice Donald G. Lustyik and sent to St. Lawrence County jail without bail.

He is to return to Norfolk Town Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing, if he is not first indicted by a grand jury.

The case was presented to the grand jury Thursday. If Trimm is indicted, there will not a preliminary hearing.

Attorney Alexander Lesyk was assigned Wednesday night by Justice Lustyik to represent Trimm for arraignment, Mr. Lesyk said. He also said he expected to be only a temporary attorney for Trimm.

Attorney Richard V. Manning was at the county jail Friday evening speaking with Trimm. Mr. Manning would not comment on the conversation and would not say whether Trimm hired him.

Roxanne Stratton, Mr. Wing’s mother, said that Trimm was a friend of her son’s but that she long has believed he was responsible for his disappearance.

Trimm has a long rap sheet, including a 1997 felony conviction for sodomizing a 15-year-old boy. He is listed as a Level 2 sex offender in the state registry.

He was the former owner of Triple X Adult Super Store in Fort Jackson and was convicted of impaired driving in 2002. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated in May 2010.
