C-P, M-W boys net NAC East Wins

PARISHVILLE - The Colton-Pierrepont varsity boys basketball team used a strong finishing kick to put away Parishville-Hopkinton 54-45 in NAC East Division action on Tuesday.

Alex Bonno tossed through a game-high 26 points as the Colts outscored the host Panthers 21-13 to come away with the win. Brent Hoyt added 14 points followed by Mike Murray with seven, Scott Boyce with four, Bruce Avery witht wo and Gyle Dominy with one.

Chase Donovan drilled four three-pointers in pacing the Panthers with 18 points. Tyler Gallagher struck for another 13 followed by Trevor Zellweger with seven, Mike Burns with five and John Conger with two.

The Colts (5-12, 2-9) close out the regular season on Thursday at East Division rival Edwards-Knox while the Panthers now get set for the Section 10 Class D playoffs at 4-14 overall and 1-11 in the East.

In the other two East Division games on Tuesday, Madrid-Waddington outscored St. Regis Falls 79-38 and Edwards-Knox dropped Tupper Lake 45-36.

M-W 79, SRF 38: Matt Kendall (5 rebounds, 3 assists) netted a game-high 24 points, including five three-pointers, to spark the Yellowjackets (16-1, 10-1). Zach Marcellus (6 assists, 6 steals) and Greg Thompson (3 rebounds, 2 assists) both contributed 14 points toward the win as the Yellowjackets worked their way to a 50-17 lead by halftime. Terry Crump (3 rebounds, 2 steals) chipped in 10 points followed by Alex Brock (4 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists) with eight, Colin O’Bryan (8 assists, 5 steals) with four, Jacob Barney with three and Richard Wright with one.

Ty Daggett paced the Saints with 10 points. Caleb Green added eight followed by Tim Wheeler with seven, Brandon Votra with five, Duquette with four and Cody Lane with three.

The Yellowjackets will now get set to travel to Chateaugay to take on the 11-0 Bulldogs in an East Division finale that will decide the regular season championship.

E-K 45, Tupper Lake 36: Ryan Meilleur anchored a balanced effort with 12 points as the Cougars reversed a 25-24 halftime deficit with a 10-2 third-quarter run. Ben Fuller chipped in 10 points followed by Tyler Tresidder with nine.

Jordan Garrow led the Lumberjacks with 15 points. Mitch Keniston and Colton Clark contributed six points apiece.
