Verizon Wireless will open a retail store in the town of Oswegatchie. The telecommunications company has submitted plans to town planning officials to put up a 2,500-square-foot store at the site of the former Sugar Creek store, 725 Canton St.
Town Code Enforcement Officer Timothy C. Tuttle said the plans have received preliminary approval from the town planning board and are now under review by the St. Lawrence County Planning Office. Once they pass there, final town approval is next.
"It'll be ready for spring construction whenever all the approvals are done," he said.
Verizon Wireless has a smaller store next to the lot in the Seaway Shopping Center, where it sells telephones and other equipment.
"It is one of the most highly visible lots in the township," he said.
