COLLINS LANDING A man from California was jailed Wednesday after he was allegedly found possessing identification documents belonging to three other men at U.S. Customs on Wellesley Island, according to state police.
Robert B. Balemagna, 32, Studio City, Calif., was arrested on five counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Orleans Town Justice Richard W. Hardy set bail at $10,000, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown.
According to documents filed with the court, Mr. Balemagna initially was denied entry into Canada, and he was turned back to U.S. Customs for investigation. He possessed a Nevada drivers license, Social Security card and birth certificate for John M. McLaughlin, as well as two California drivers licenses for two other men, according to the court file.
The investigation is continuing.
