MASSENA - As the father of four, Nathan Lashomb knows and understands that taking children or pets to get a portrait or family photo done isnt always easy and its with that in mind hes opening a photo studio of his own, Forevermore Studio, out of the basement of his 52 Bishop Ave. home.
I have four children, and Ive been to studios where its like hurry up, click, OK, lets go, he said. Patience is definitely something I have.
Mr. Lashomb, who spent four years working as a wedding photographer in Florida before returning home to Massena, said photography has always been a passion of his and now its something hes hoping to do for a living.
I took a couple classes in school and have been doing it ever since, he said.
His current studio sits in the basement of his home, but if all goes well Mr. Lashomb said its only a matter of time before he moves into another location, whether it be his garage or somewhere else in the village.
Im hoping this is temporary, he said. Im starting as a home business to build up some clientele to either justify getting my own place and paying rent or mortgage or converting my garage into a studio.
Mr. Lashomb said his current studio used to serve as a playroom for his children. I found they were spending more time upstairs with us anyway, so I said, This is going to be daddys room.
In addition to offering portrait packages for children, pets, high school seniors, families and more, Mr. Lashomb also said he will be offering videography services, although with a staff of one, he wouldnt be able to photograph and record a wedding.
Im hoping to break into commercial videography, he said. To me it just seems like there is something missing with out north country commercials, and I know what I can provide at a reasonable price and thats quality, but thats down the road.
While Mr. Lashomb said he will offer photo packages, he also said hell offer his clients discs, containing the digital images with full copyright release.
Ive seen instances where photo packages cost $180. I want to make this affordable, he said, adding hell offer 15-minute mini-sessions for $20 and longer sessions that could include wardrobe changes for $50 per hour.
For an additional fee, Mr. Lashomb said he will also offer off-site photo shoots, although since his studio is not handicap accessible additional fees will be waived for customers in need of handicap accessibility.
