Kinney’s big weekend nets Liberty League honors


Clarkson University senior David Kinney was named the Liberty League performer of the week in baseball after the Golden Knights took three games this weekend from Skidmore.

Kinney went 8-for-12 with six runs scored and five RBIs in four games against the Thoroughbreds. Kinney also tossed a complete game on Saturday.

n St. Lawrence University’s Dave Hovey was named Liberty League Offensive Player of the week after scoring five goals and seven assists in two men’s lacrosse games.

Hovey had four goals and one assist in SLU’s 14-11 win over SUNY Plattsburgh last Wednesday. Hovey then scored once and handed out six assists as St. Lawrence beat Vassar 11-8 on Saturday.

Clarkson’s Corey Herrington was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week after an eight-point weekend.

n St. Lawrence University freshman golfer Brandon Lustig was named Liberty League co-performer of the week after leading the Saints to a second-place finish at the Utica College Invitational. Lustig shot a 79 at par-72 Kanon Valley Country Club in Oneida on Saturday.

n Jenna Hulton of St. Lawrence University was named the women’s Liberty League Track Performer of the week. Hulton won the 1,500 meters at the Rochester Spring Invitational on Saturday, and she placed fourth in the 800.
