SYRACUSE — Former Carthage standout and Syracuse freshman Kailah Kempney was named Synapse Sports women’s lacrosse rookie of the week after leading the second-ranked Orange to two conference wins last week. Synapse Sports is a national women’s lacrosse website.

Kempney tallied five goals for Syracuse in a 16-10 win over Notre Dame last Thursday. Kempney then had a pair of goals and three draw controls in a 15-10 win on Saturday over Rutgers.

Kempney has 17 goals this season. She was named the 2011 Times All-North Most Valuable Player.
