CANTON - A 21-year-old Canton man has been jailed after he allegedly pointed a gun at his mother and demanded the keys to her truck Thursday afternoon.

Canton-based state police charged Jesse D. Olson with second-degree robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was arraigned in Canton court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,500 cash.

Troopers said Olson pointed what appeared to be a handgun - described in police radio transmissions as a nlikely a black pellet gun - at his mother at her Route 11 residence and demanded the keys to the vehicle. He then took the extended cab pickup without his mother’s permission.

He was taken into custody at 4:30 p.m. Thursday on the Gulf Road in the town of Colton.
