POTSDAM - A 22-year-old Bainbridge man faces several drug charges after police searched his room at an Elm Street fraternity house and seized approximately two pounds of marijuana and $11,000.
Village police charged Shawn E. Innes, a Clarkson University student,with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, third-degree criminal possession of marijuana and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after executing a search warrant in his room at Delta Tau Tau Fraternity, 74 Elm St., at 1 p.m. Thursday. He was arraigned in local court and released under the supervision of the probation department.
Police said the case stemmed from an investigation into the sale of marihuana in the Potsdam area. Drug investigators from the Potsdam Police Department, working in conjunction with the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant and seized approximately two pounds of marihuana, $11,000, a quantity of concentrated marihuana (hashish), scales, packaging equipment, a police scanner, smoking devices, and other items allegedly associated with the trafficking and distribution of narcotics. Police said their investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
Drug Task Force members from the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Office, Canton Police Department, Gouverneur Police Department and SUNY Potsdam University Police assisted with the investigation.
