The state Department of Environmental Conservation is taking applications for the 2012 Environmental Excellence Awards program.

The awards acknowledge projects that create environmental benefits including preventing pollution, improving manufacturing processes and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Completed applications for the 2012 awards must be postmarked no later than May 18. Winners will be honored at a ceremony in the fall.
