FELONY DWI - CANTON - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Andrew M. France, 33, of 442 Cousintown Road, Canton, with felony counts of driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following an all-terrain vehicle accident at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday on Cousintown Road.

The sheriff’s department was assisted by Canton-based state police, Canton Rescue and Pyrites First Responders assisted at the accident scene. Police said France’s blood alcohol content was not available.

Deputies said France failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, striking a telephone pole. He was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where he was treated for a leg injury and released.

He was also ticketed for failure to keep right, operation of an unregistered and uninsured all-terrain vehicle and operation of an all-terrain vehicle on a public road. Deputies said their investigaton is continuing and more charges are pending.

France was arraigned in town court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
