Carthage defeats WHS in boys lacrosse, extends league streak

CARTHAGE — Dan Conlin contributed two goals and two assists, and scooped up eight ground balls as the Carthage boys lacrosse team won its 69th straight Frontier League game, 11-5, over “A” Division foe Watertown High School on Tuesday night.

Joey Hayes added two goals and three assists, while Bailey Wilkinson and Seth Leonard scored two goals apiece for the Comets (6-1 overall, 4-0 league).

Chris Gamble won 9-of-14 faceoffs and added a goal for Carthage, which grabbed 45 ground balls compared to Watertown’s 21.

Eric Soderquist and Mitchell Rick scored two goals apiece for the Cyclones (4-1, 2-1).

Brad McKinney generated a goal and an assist, and Matt Netto stopped 17 shots.

GENERAL BROWN 12, INDIAN RIVER 1

Kendall Vecchio accounted for three goals and one assist as the Lions secured an interdivision victory at Philadelphia.

Cole Johnson finished with two goals and two assists, and Logan Tefft added two goals for General Brown (2-3, 1-2).

Dustin Fetterman scored for Indian River (1-5, 0-3).

ST. LAWRENCE 19, OFA 4

Dalton Lottie produced eight goals to lead the St. Lawrence Central boys lacrosse team to a victory over Odgensburg Free Academy in a Northern Athletic Conference game in Brasher Falls.

Nate Cole scored two goals with five assists for the Larries (2-0 overall and division), and Marshall Burninghausen added three goals and two assists.

Ian Lynch also scored two goals for the Larries while Blake Baldwin, Luke Arquiett, Logan White and Styles Arquiett added single goals.

Trey Lawrence led OFA (0-4, 0-3) with one goal and one assist.

Cody McCormick, Jordan McCormick and Nick Perrigo scored OFA’s other goals.

POTSDAM 14, SARANAC LAKE 4

Sam Miller’s four-goal effort helped send the Sandstoners (3-0, 2-0) past Saranac Lake in an NAC game in Potsdam.

Kyle Grant, Chad Varney and Cody Campeau each scored twice, and Nate Carey, Stephen Lewis, A.J. Landi and Kyle Kingsley scored one goal apiece.

Seth Pickering led Saranac Lake (0-1) with two goals and an assist with Quinn Urquhart and Lance Ackerson scoring the other goals for the Red Storm.

GIRLS LACROSSE

WATERTOWN 18, CLINTON 3

Brianne Arthur tallied six goals and two assists to help power the Cyclones to a nonleague victory at Watertown High School.

Jillian VanNostrand produced six goals, and Ashley Flick added two goals and two assists for Watertown (4-1).

Clinton fell to 0-6.
