Chester L. Trombley, 79, of Massena died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Highland Nursing Home, Massena, N.Y.

Born in Churubusco, N.Y. on October 27, 1932, he was the son of Felix and Stella (Decosse) Trombley.

Mr. Trombley enlisted in the US Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was employed as a construction worker for Laborer Local Union #322 of Massena for most of his life. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Massena, and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Massena, American Legion Post #79, Massena and AMVETS Post #4, Massena.

Mr. Trombley is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and John Hall of Massena; two brothers and sister-in-law, David Trombley of Buffalo, Bob and Dede Geroux of Millerton; a sister-in-law, Audrey McGibbon of Constable; a brother-in-law, Mike Francia of Massena; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; step-father Clarence Geroux; four sisters, Jean Ryan, Luva Malloy, Irene Francia and Dorothy Strazerri; three brothers, Floyd, Kem and Ross Trombley.

Calling hours will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Churubusco, on Thursday, April 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Ted Crosby of St. Edmund’s Church officiating.

Burial will take place at Immaculate Heart Cemetery, Churubusco.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are with the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
