Funeral services for Claire L. Moore, age 90, of Pratt Street, Watertown will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Presbyterian Church, CR 10, in Lisbon with Patrick Severson officiating. Burial will be in Flackville Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Mrs. Moore passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda MacQueen, of Watertown; two sons, Wayne Moore and his wife, Janet, of Lisbon and Wendell Moore and his wife, Joanie, of Paris, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jill Marble and her husband, Andrew, Jakarta, Indonesia, Andrew MacQueen, California, Brian MacQueen and his wife, Patricia, Tennessee, Jennifer Moore, Colorado, Erin Moore, Minnesota, Jaclyn Moore, Lisbon, Paul Chelius, and his wife, Misty, Danny Chelius, and his wife, Amber, Texas; and three great grandchildren, Phillip, Evan and Ella Marble. She was predeceased by a grandson, Brent J. Moore and a daughter-in-law, Vicki Moore.
She was born on April 25, 1921 in Lisbon, the daughter of Justis and Beryl Thompson Dailey. She graduated from Lisbon High School as Valedictorian of her class. She graduated from the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1943. She worked at the hospital as a staff nurse until 1945. She married Ralph Baldwin Moore on March 25, 1945 at the Methodist Parsonage in Potsdam, NY, with Rev. Paul A. Roy officiating. Mr. Moore passed away on April 26, 1988. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in on County Route 10 in Lisbon for many years. She later worked at United Helpers Nursing Home in Ogdensburg as a nursing supervisor.
Mrs. Moore was a founding member of the Grace Presbyterian Church which was formerly known as the Lisbon Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
She was part of a large extended family and enjoyed spending time and keeping in touch with them. She enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, gardening, bird watching, reading and church activities. For many years, Mrs. Moores family enjoyed Sunday dinner prepared by her in her home following church services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Grace Presbyterian Church, CR 10, Lisbon or to Hospice of either Jefferson or St. Lawrence counties.
