A Henrietta man pled guilty in U.S. District Court Friday to one count of trafficking in counterfeit goods.

Cengiz Gulbay, 39, is accused of falsely marking items as being manufactured by Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Coach and Christmas tree ornaments manufactured by “Rudolf & Me.” Mr. Gulbay was selling the items in Massena and Watertown stores, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Mr. Gulbay operated several kiosks in the Salmon River Mall in Watertown, and two stores located in the St. Lawrence Centre, Massena, the release says.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 23 in Syracuse. He faces up to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to $2,000,000, a three year period of supervised release, and a special assessment of $100.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations-Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Syracuse Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard R. Southwick.
