NATURAL BRIDGE – Vincent D. Herzog, 26, of 43876 Route 3, was arrested Wednesday evening after state police alleged he pointed an unloaded rifle at a visitor in his home.

Charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, he was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, with bail set at $1,000 by Carthage Village Justice S. Lucille Shettleton.

Police said the alleged threat occurred in the living room while Maurice Palmer, 24, was that attempting to retrieve the belongings of Mr. Herzog’s former roommate. With gun in hand, Mr. Herzog ordered Mr. Palmer to get out, police said.

During the investigation, police said they determined that Mr. Herzog possessed two unregistered handguns.
