Malone duo accused of drive through burglary

NORTH BANGOR - Malone-based state police charged two Malone men this week following an investigation into a burglary where a pickup truck had been driven through an overhead door to gain access to auto parts, including two engines, at Tony’s Auto Sales in North Bangor.

Christopher W. Tuper, 31, was charged with third-degree burglary. He was arraigned in Bangor Town Court and remanded to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Adam Gervais, 25, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class E felony. He was arraigned in Ellenburg Town Court and remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

State police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Investigator Eric Burnette said the allegedly stolen items were sold as scrap metal to Arno’s Scrap Metal in Ellenburg, and a state police press release said most of the stolen items had been recovered.

He said that he was unsure of how much damage was done to Tony’s Auto Sales, but he “heard estimates of a few thousand dollars.”

“The investigation is continuing with more arrests pending,” the release states.

Burnette was unsure if Tuper had a previous criminal record.
