CRIMINAL SALE - MASSENA - Village police charged James J. Love, 26, of 60 Liberty Ave., Massena, with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance Friday morning. Police allege Love sold narcotics to another person in October 2011. He was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and released under the supervision of the probation department following a recommendation from the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office. The drug count is a Class B felony.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION FIREWORKS - MASSENA - Village police charged Eric J. Deshane, 28, of 733 state Route 37C, Massena, with reckless driving and unauthorized possession of fireworks following a traffic stop at 3:23 p.m. on Sycamore Street. Police said they observed Deshane following another vehicle at a high rate of speed in an area where a school bus was discharging passengers. Deshane was also ticketed for speeding. During the traffic stop, Deshane was found in possession of several fireworks, including bottle rockets and fire crackers.

HINDERING PROSECUTION - MASSENA - Village police charged Shirley J. Fenlong, 54, of 5 South St., Massena, with hindering prosecution Thursday afternoon. Police alleged Fenlong attempted to conceal her son, Samual O. Hurlbut, from being picked up by police despite knowing there was a felony warrant for the 18 year old’s arrest on a burglary charge. Police said Fenlong refused to allow police inside her residence to take her son into custody Wednesday morning.
