H-D Softball Dips Rockets; Baldwin, Delosh Combine On MCS No-Hitter

DEKALB JUNCTION - Host Hermon-DeKalb and Morristown exchanged diamond wins in rain-soaked NAC West Baseball and Softball action on Thursday.

The Lady Demons rallied from a 3-0 deficit take a 13-3 five inning softball victory which was shortened to five innings by rain.

The Demons’ youth showed in a doubleheader setback to Morristown 17-0, 13-0 where senior Geoff Baldwin teammed up with Tyler Delosh on a no-hitter in the first game.

SOFTBALL

Brianna Sayer struck out six batters and walked just two in five inings to pitc the H-D victory.

“I really thought Brianna did a good job in the rain. It was diffcult for both pitchers today,” said H-D coach Cheryl Simmons.

Clarisa Davis smacked a triple and stroked a single for the Demons. Xanna Gotham added two singles while Thanisha Scales, Sayer, and Chelsey MacKay each singled. Karissa Bertrand and Erica Fishel each singled for Morristown.

BASEBALL

Baldwin fanned eight batters in three innings allowing one one walkand Delosh fanned four batters in two innings. Dakota Marshall crushed a grand slam homerun, Baldwin helped his cause with a three run and two- run homerun and Kellas Lowery connected for a three-run double.

Brad Weller reached by getting hit and Steve Perry walked. Caulen Allen struck out 11 batters.

In the second game called after three innings, Bobby Simmons allowed one hit and struck out six. Leading the way offensively were: Baldwin (two run single), Lowery (three run triple) and Dakota Marshall (two run single). Caullen Allen singled for H-D.
