LOWVILLE - Hugo Stuhler, 92, a former resident of East Road Adult Home and life resident of Rochester, died on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility with his family at his side.
Mr. Stuhler was born on December 17, 1919 in Augsburg, Germany the son of the late Anton and Barbara Mergle Stuhler. Hugo served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a Medic and was honorably discharged in 1945. He reenlisted in 1948 served his country as a sergeant 1st class until 1965.
He married the late Martha J. ( Powers ) Stuhler, who served in the Women’s Army Corps. She died in 2004. Hugo was employed by Eastman Kodak as an X-Ray Technician.
Surviving is his son, Anton “Tony” Stuhler of Rochester; a sister, Barbara Evans of Lowville; and many other loving family and friends. His brothers George and Vitus Stuhler predecease him.
A prayer service for Mr. Stuhler will be on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Pominville, Deacon of St. Peter’s Catholic Church officiating.
A military burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery for both Martha and Hugo will be at a later date.
