Bulldogs Nine Stay Unbeaten In Softball Baseball

HARRISVILLE - The Heuvelton Baseball and Softball teams remained unbeaten in Northern Athletic Conference West Division play on Friday with victories at Harrisville.

A five run third sparked the Lady Bulldogs to a 14-10 win over the host Pirates in a match of last year’s NAC Co-Champions. Scoring four times in the top of the first, Heuvelton shut out Harrisville 8-0 in baseball.

Heuvelton 14, Harrisville 10; Hannah Thornhill smacked a triple and two singles, scored three times and drove in three runs and Paige McCormick delivered a triple and a single and scored twice to lead the Bulldogs to a 10-4 lead after three innings.

“It was pretty cold and we saw some snow but I thought our pitchers did a good job. Offensively, Hannah (Thornhill) and Paige (McCormick) had some good hits and Katie Bates sparked us in the fourth with a big hit. Defensively, Paige McCormick made a good grab in centerfield,” said Heuvelton Coach Mark Henry whose team plays today in the St. Lawrence Central Tournament against Massena.

Logan Tallman fanned four batters and walked three in four innings of work allowing six hits and seven runs. Alexis Weidner got the save with three strikeouts while issueing three hits and one walk in three innings.

Rachel Thornhill, Jen Cougler, Bates, and Weidner also singled for the winners.

Hunter Fowler delivered three singles for Harrisville. Hanna Weaver (3RBI), Brooke Canning, and Emery Matott all singled twice while Jeri Baker, Samantha Rounds, Molly McIntosh each singled.

Heuvelton 8, Harrisville 0: Chris Power belted a homerun and ripped a single driving in three runs and pitched four innings striking out four combining on a shutout with Jack Palmer, Cody Holland and Mike Martin.

Mike Guardino supplied three hits and three RBI while Tyler Bushey stroked two singles and collected two RBI for Heuvelton. Mike Martin, Palmer, Cobb, Jon Sloan all singled twice while Holland doubled and Matt Guardino singled. Jared Draythaler, Nick Weir, Henry Garbrecht and Butts all singled for Harrisville.
