CANTON — Bryan Palermo went a combined 5-for-8 as the St. Lawrence University baseball team swept a Liberty League doubleheader against the Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday, winning 4-0 and 12-5.

Palermo went 2-for-3 in the opener for the Saints (21-10 overall, 14-7 conference) and was 3-for-5 in game two. Jeff Kott also had two hits for the Saints in the opener. Jason Conde threw a shutout, striking out four and scattering four hits.

Paul Piatelli went 4-for-5 in game two. Matt D’Auteuil went 2-for-5, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Brian Brazee, C.J. Bolorin and Chris Barr each had two hits for RIT (12-21, 7-15).

CLARKSON 3-0, VASSAR 1-2

The Golden Knights (16-17, 10-12) managed just four total hits in two games but salvaged a split with Vassar in a Liberty League doubleheader in Potsdam.

Bryan Chudy threw a complete game in the opener, striking out 10 for Clarkson. David Wixted went 2-for-4 in game two for the Golden Knights.

Dave Robbins, Parker Werline and Sean Morash each had two hits for Vassar (10-20, 8-12) in the second game and John MacGregor threw a two-hit shutout.

SUNY CANTON 17-9, MAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 11-3

Gerardo Torres went 2-for-5, including a home run, to lead the Kangaroos (6-25) past host Maine-Presque Isle in the opening game of a nonconference doubleheader. SUNY Canton picked up a sweep.

Jordan Hunneyman doubled twice in the opener and Jared Marckese drove in four runs.

SOFTBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 5-7, SKIDMORE 2-0

Leslie Stratton and Khalshia White had two hits in each game as the Saints (18-10, 4-6) swept a Liberty League doubleheader from Skidmore in Canton.

Aisha O’Connor also had two hits for SLU in the opener. Chelsea Cavellier, Rebecca Allen and Caroline Kieltyka also had two hits in game two for the Saints, with Kieltyka driving in three runs. Kyle Plimpton threw a shutout in game two, striking out 10 and allowing only two hits.

Julie Schwartz and Abby Shea each had two hits for Skidmore (13-23, 2-8) in the opener.

SUNY PLATTSBURGH 8-13, SUNY POTSDAM 0-0

Several former Section 10 athletes played key roles for the Cardinals in a SUNYAC doubleheader sweep of SUNY Potsdam (11-23, 2-16) in Plattsburgh.

Salmon River alum Allison Smiddy went 2-for-4 in the opener for the Cardinals (25-8, 14-4) and was 3-for-3 with three RBIs in game two. Malone’s Brittany Marshall had three total hits and her older sister Ashley was the winning pitcher in game two, allowing the Bears only two hits and striking out 13.

MAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 8-14, SUNY CANTON 2-12

Heather Lottie homered in the second game, for her 100th career hit, but SUNY Canton (7-22) was swept in a nonconference doubleheader at Presque Isle.

NIAGARA CCC 2-8, JEFFERSON CC 1-6

Breanna Noworyta went 5-for-6 with two doubles and four RBIs on the day as the Thunderwolves (10-10) swept a Region 3 doubleheader with the Cannoneers at Sanborn.

Jessica Peters provided an RBI double in the first game for Jefferson Community College (11-12, 9-10). In game two, Lindsey Croneiser was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Kari Gehrke drove in two runs on two hits.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ST. LAWRENCE 18, BARD 3

Abigail Horan outscored Bard (5-11, 0-9) by herself, finishing with five goals for the Saints in a Liberty League contest in Canton.

Brigid Hurley, Blythe Crasto and Paige Powell each scored two goals for the Saints (9-6, 6-3). Carly VanTassel, Kate Higgins, Alanna Piroli, Mackenzie Collins, Kendall Harty, Stephanie O’Rourke and Margie Bailey added single goals.

Farah Akhtar, Reed Mango and Stephanie LaMont scored for Bard.

CLARKSON 13, VASSAR 10

Saryn Campbell and Katie VanDeValk each scored four goals as the Golden Knights (7-8, 3-6) defeated Vassar in a Liberty League game in Potsdam.

Alyssa Cristaldi and Jeanette Pendergast scored two goals and Nicole Kelly also scored for Clarkson.

Dara Davis led Vassar (5-10, 2-7) with three goals. Katherine Stegmann scored twice for the Brewers.

MEN’S LACROSSE

CLARKSON 13, VASSAR 5

Corey Herrington tallied four goals as Clarkson (9-5, 3-3) knocked off the Brewers in a Liberty League game in Poughkeepsie.

Kyle Kasprzyk scored three goals and Bryan Huff produced two for the Golden Knights. Matthew Gold, Eric Gollands, Brendon Shearin and Jeff Sciera also scored.

Max Herman scored three and Jack Gross added two for Vassar (3-10, 0-6).

RIT 15, ST. LAWRENCE 5

A.J. Tingle’s five goals led the Tigers (12-2, 5-1) past SLU in a Liberty League contest in Canton.

Brendan MacDonald scored three goals while Allister Warren and Tom Riley added two for the Tigers.

Garrett Gagne, Matt Pope, Tucker Garfield, Dave Hovey and Marcus Emerson each scored once for SLU (12-2, 4-2).

SUNY CORTLAND 16, SUNY POTSDAM 8

Mike Tota scored seven goals for SUNY Cortland (16-0, 6-0) in a SUNYAC win over the Bears in Potsdam.

Greg Wright scored three goals while Cody Consul, Joe Slavik, Matt Rakoczy, Mike Cantelli, Brandon Mulholland and Luke McNaney added single goals.

Rob Kunz and Peter Pike each scored twice for the Bears (5-8, 1-5). Dylan DiFante, Kyle Nicholas, Matt Donovan and Pat Morrill also scored for SUNY Potsdam.
