PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police said they charged seven people over the weekend in connection with three separate shoplifting incidents at Rite Aid in downtown Massena.
■ Mary Ann Lavalley, 52, of 18 Perkins Road, Massena; Robert Lavalley Jr., 23, of 124 Andrews St., Massena, and Amber Gardner, 19, also of 124 Andrews St., Massena, were each charged with petit larceny at 2:29 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Lavalley and Gardner were additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a child. They were released on appearance tickets for village court.
Mrs. Lavalley was then turned over to the sheriffs department on a St. Lawrence County Family Court warrant.
Policed said the trio shoplifted DVDs and a bag of Combos from Rite Aid. Mr. Lavalley and Gardner reportedly had their infant daughter with them during the shoplifting incident.
■ A 14-year-old male and a 13-year-old male were charged with petit larceny at 11:33 a.m. Saturday. They repoerted shoplifted gum and Robitussin from the store. Their cases were turned over the probation department for a possible Family Court petition.
■ A 13-year-old female and a 12-year-old female were charged at 3:30 p.m. Sunday after they reportedly shoplifted numerous cosmetic items. Police said the girls parents alerted police about the incident. Their cases were turned over to the probation department for a possible family court petition.
AGGRAVATED DWI - MASSENA - Village police charged Jason P. Kennedy, 37, of 42 Marie St., Massena, with aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right following a traffic stop at 8:50 p.m. Saturday on the Maple Street Extension. Police said a patrol sopped Kennedys vehicle after observing him driving erractically on the Parker Avenue Bridge. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.23 percent, nearly three times the legal limit. A blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent of higher elevates a DWI charge to aggravated DWI. Kennedy was also charged with drinking and driving in April 1994, according to court documents.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Village police charged Elizabeth M. Collins, 23, of 233 Center St., Massena, with unlawful possession of marijuana at 11 a.m. Saturday at her residence. Police reportedly observed a marijuana pipe when they were assisting Massena Rescue on a call to her residence.
CRIMINAL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Village police charged William Rochefort, 17, of 235 Center St., Massena, with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest following an incident at 1:16 a.m. Sunday on Willow Street. Police said no further details were available Monday.
UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Gloria J. Lamendola, 61, of Massena for a stop sign violation at 9:48 a.m. Monday following a traffic stop at Parker and Alvern avenues.
UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Catherine A. Losey, 49, of County Route 43, Massena, for operation of an uninspected motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 8:55 a.m. Monday.
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION - MASSENA - Village police charged George E. Tarbell, 32, of 760 Drumm St., Akwesasne, with operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration and operation of a vehicle with no inurance following a traffic stop at 2:31 a.m. Sunday on West Orvis Street.
INADEQUATE MUFFLER - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Eric W. Smith, 20, of Reynolds Road, Norwood, for operation of a vehicle with an inadequate muffler following a traffic stop at 3:45 p.m. Saturday on Francis Street.
