MASSENAThe Massena Music Friends organization hopes to help the Massena High School band programs need for new school instruments by holding a guitar raffle over the next few weeks.
Thanks to the generous donation of a Takamine acoustic/electric guitar by Mainly Music of Massena, MMF hopes to raise in the neighborhood of $2,300 by selling just 500 chances on the guitar. The drawing will be held June 11 at the annual June Rocks show at the high school auditorium.
The guitar is a Takamine EG440 with case. The instrument and case carry a retail value of $760. In addition, a second prize of $200, and a third prize of $100 will be awarded. Tickets are $5 each.
Proceeds will benefit the needed purchase of a new French horn and a new bassoon for the high school band program.
Tickets will be sold at many of the upcoming spring concerts around the Massena School District. Any supporter of the districts music program who would like to purchase tickets or sell them on behalf of MMF, can contact Massena Music Friends interim officers Pat Tubbs at 769-1982 or Paul Haggett at 769-9048.
