A Watertown man entered two guilty pleas Wednesday in Jefferson County Court in connection with the August shooting of another man on Winslow Street.
Eddie Liriano, 24, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors. He was subsequently sentenced to an unspecified amount of time served at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
Mr. Liriano entered his pleas using an Alford plea, meaning he did not admit to the underlying facts in the case, but was pleading guilty to avoid the possibility of being convicted of more serious offenses at trial.
He was charged in a grand jury indictment handed up in December with possessing a loaded handgun and shooting Tyshard J. Black in the leg during a struggle inside Mr. Blacks vehicle on Winslow Street.
