Massena, N-N golf teams generate NAC wins


MASSENA - The Massena Central golf team handed OFA its second NAC loss in as many days on Wednesday after gaining a 218-222 decision over the Blue Devils at the Massena Country Club.

Playing the back nine (par 35), the Raiders were led by Hunter Francis with a medalist round of 40 that included a birdie on the 14th hole. Jayden Wood and Kendrick Swamp (biridie on 10) contributed 41’s followed by Tyler Bradford with a 46 and Tyler Nevill with a 50 while Brenden Dobbins carded a non-scoring 54.

For OFA, Dillin Binion and Brandon Mullin both shot 42 followed by Conor Hannan with a 42, Tristan Moore with a 44 and Jed McRoberts with a 51. Alec Manke posted a non-scoring 55.


In the Division II meets on Wednesday, Norwood-Norfolk improved to 3-0 with a 4-1 decision at home over Brushton-Moira while Edwards-Knox and Tupper Lake hosted tri-meets.

N-N 4, B-M 1: At the Raymondville Country Club, the visiting Panthers got their only point in the first match were freshman sensation Devin Delisle fired a one-under par 35 that included birdies on both the par 5’s (1, 8) and an eagle on the par 4 fourth hole where he drove the green off the tee than sank a midrange putt. Nick Stewart carded a 44 for the Flyers, who had all five golfers shoot 45 or better.

Earning points in the win were Matt Myers, who beat Hunter Russell 40-44, Ryan Thomas, who stopped Matt Follett 42-52, Anthony Mossow, who downed Matt Niles 45-67, and Cole Davey, who posted the low round of the day for the Flyers in outshooting Nick Debyas 38-63. Schuyler LaBarge shot an exhibition round of 45.

Myers also birdied the first and eighth holes during the course of his round while Mossow notched a birdie on the par four fifth hole.

The Flyers return to action on Friday when they travel to Canton for a tri-match at Partridge Run against host Edwards-Knox and Salmon River.


Heuvelton and Madrid-Waddington split on the afternoon 2.5-2.5 and defeated host Edwards-Knox. The Bulldogs upended Edwards-Knox 4.5-.5 while M-W edged Edwards-Knox 3-2.

Tyler Otis and Will Tennant of Heuvelton shared medalist honos with Jeff Mott of Madrid-Waddington carding 48’s.

Otis handed Kyle Bent of M-W 48-53 setback and downed Hunter Tuttle of E-K 48-52 sweeping his matches for Heuvelton. Tuttle won his match with Bent.

Will Tennant’s 48 was clearly winners over M-W’s Wade Lawrence (79) and Derek Cutway (75) in the fifth slot for the Bulldogs. Cutway won his match with Lawrence.

Madrid-Waddington’s Jeff Mott swept Heuvelton’s Jacob St. Pierrre 48-59 and E-K’s Dan Pharoah 48-58 in the second position, Pharoah trimmed St, Pierre by a stroke in his match. M-W’s Josh Tiernan also won two matches over Heuvelton’s Dedrick Johnson (50-57) and Zach Allen (57) in the third position. Both Allen and Johnson split their match,

Jack Tennant of Heuvelton and Alex Hammond of M-W split in the three spot at 51-51. Both golfers claimed wins over E-K’s Ross Curley (83).


At the Tupper Lake Country Club, the host Lumberjacks edged Salmon River 3-2 and swept Clifton-Fine 5-0.

In the loss to Tupper Lake, T.J. Roundpoint shot a 44 in the first match for Salmon to beat Colton Clarke (54) while Jarred John beat Rick LaLonde 50-51 in the third match.

In Salmon Rivers’s 5-0 win over C-F, Noah Bero (48) beat Matt Peabody, Matt Healy beat Chad Kerr 49-84 and Alex Patnode outlasted Austin Malone 77-80.

Also competing for Tupper Lake were Robbie LaLonde (47), Riley Amell (43) and Ben Geiger (56).
