STAR LAKE — A Star Lake woman was charged Wednesday by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies with felony endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person.

Mary J. McBroom, 33, of 933 Oswegatchie Trail, is accused of abusing and neglecting her father, Floyd R. McBroom, 94, who lived with her, deputies said.

Following a visit from adult protective services in January, deputies said, Mr. McBroom was taken to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, where he was treated for about three weeks for bed sores before being released to a different family member.

Mr. McBroom’s death April 30 was unrelated to the alleged neglect, deputies said.
