Potsdam, N-N golf teams score NAC roas wins

The Potsdam Central golf team improved to 3-1 atop the Division I standings with a win on the road over Gouverneur while Norwood-Norfolk moved to 5-0 in Division II with a sweep over Salmon River and Edwards-Knox in NAC meets on Friday.

Potsdam 215, Gouverneur 270: At the Gouverneur Country Club, Mike Chambers paced the visiting Sandstoners with a 40 playing in the first pair and Konnor Bigwarfe followed with a 41 out of the sixth position to anchor the convincing win. Ben Stone carded a 42 while Dustin LaValley and Dan Cruikshank both finished with 46’s. Dan Stone shot a non-scoring 49.

Eugene Bishop led the Wildcats with a 43. Alex Prespare posted a 50 followed by Cole Newvine with a 56, Cade Stevens with a 59 and Kacy Barley with a 62 while Daniel Sweet had a non-scoring 74.

The Sandstoners are slated to host Massena on Monday at the Potsdam Town and Country Club starting at 3 p.m.

N-N NOTCHES SWEEP

In an NAC Division II tri-meet held at Canton’s Partridge Run Course, Norwood-Norfolk raised it’s undefeated record to 5-0 with a sweep over Salmon River (4.5-.5) and host Edwards-Knox (5-0). Salmon edged E-K 3-2 to salvage the split.

Nick Stewart posted the low round of the day for the Flyers with a 42 to win both his matches in the first threesome. Matt Myers (44), Anthony Mossow (51) and Cole Davey (53) also won two points on the day while Ryan Thomas shot a 49 to split a point with Salmon River’s Colton Hart in the third match.

Also competing for Salmon River were Noah Bero (49), Jared John (52) and Matt Healy (76).

Shooting for the host Cougars were; Hunter Tuttle (46), Kyle Gotham (72), Dan Pharoah (77), Zach Allen (60) and Rich Finnerty (74).

The Flyers are slated to host Salmon River and E-K at the Raymondville Country Club on Tuesday starting at 3 p.m.

OTHER MEETS

In other Division II meets on Friday, Brushton-Moira swept Tupper Lake (3-2) and Madrid-Waddington (3-2) while Heuvelton posted a 5-0 win at Clifton-Fine.

B-M Sweeps: Madrid-Waddington (2-2-) found its fortunes in the Division II golf race detoured in suffering 3-2 losses to host Brushton-Moira (4-1) and Tupper Lake (3-2) in a triangular match on the par 36 back nine of Higland Greens in Brushton.

Led by medalist Devin Delisle, who shot a one-over-par 37, B-M also gained a 3-2 win over Tupper Lake. Hunter Russell (45) also went 2-0 on the day for the Panthers.

Shooting in the third position Josh Tiernan (45) went 2-0 for the Jackets while Jeff Mott (45) went 1-1 in the number one spot and Wade Lawrence (57) went 1-1 playing out of the fifth position. Rick Lalone (44) posted a 2-0 day to lead Tupper Lake.

Norwood-Norfolk maintained the division lead at 5-0 sweeping Salmon River and Edwards-Knox while Heuvelton gained a 5-0 win at Clifton-Fine.
