C-P softball team pulls away to win over Morristown

MORRISTOWN - The Colton-Pierrepont Central varsity softball team pulled away to a 15-2 NAC interdivisional win on the road over Morristown on Friday.

The Lady Colts only led 4-2 after four innings before pushing across five runs in the fifth and another six in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Brianna Beaulieu fanned 10 batters and allowed singles to Mikayla Horton and Allison Smith for the Colts.

Eve Whalen supplied two singles and Hunter Farr doubled for C-P. Beaulieu and Kathyn Miller each singled.

In the other NAC softball matchups on Friday, Brushton-Moira posted a 9-1 North Division win over Salmon River while interdivisional encounters saw Tupper Lake doubled Clifton-Fine 6-3 and Canton outlast Franklin Academy 7-6.

Brushton-Moira 9, Salmon River 1: Emily O’Connor logged the win striking out seven and allowing three walks and four hits in the win. The Panthers had a five run third as O’Connor helped her cause with a RBI double and a single. Haylea Gary went 2-3 with an RBI. Margaret McKernan added a RBI single,. Kailtyn Lauzon was 2-3 for Salmon River.

Emily Tremblay was tagged with the loss.

Tupper Lake 6, C-F 3: Carley Aldridge connected for four singles, Kelly Doolen accounted for three singles and Sam Sanford lined a double and a single to back up Kelsey St. Louis and Sanford combined to work the hill for the Lumberjacks with Sanford picking up the win in relief.

Shelby Peabody connected for three hits for C-F.

Canton 7, FA 6: Kaeli Mace delivered a two run single and Lauren Smith belted a two run triple in the four run sixth inning to lift the Bears past the Huskies at home.

Ema Rexford struckout eight batters and allowed five hits by six errors help the Huskies stay in the game. Annie Sharlow fanned 13 batters in the setback where she allowed eight hits.

Smith finished with two triples while Sara Elliott connected for three singles and Rexford accounted for two singles.

Sharlow finished with a triple for FA. Morgan Fountain, Katie LaVoie, Whitney Legacy and Kirstyn Reynolds all added singles.

GIRLS LACROSSE

In NAC girls lacrosse action on Friday, Canton edged OFA 8-7 and Saranac Lake beat Salmon River 12-8.

Canton 8, OFA 7: At Roger Dusharm Field, Alicia Jones scored with just over two minutes remaining to make it 8-6 and the Lady Bears made it stand as the game-winner. Jones finished with three goals and an assist while Rachel Huntley and Kate Lumbard each scored twice. Megan Howard stood tall working the Canton (6-3, 5-3) crease for 14 saves.

Kaitlin Sheppard, who cut the deficit to 8-7 with a minute and a-half left, paced OFA with three goals and one assist. Mackenzie Bresett added a pair of goals while Molly Morrow tallied a goal and two assists. Erica Chase stopped eight shots in the losing cause.

Saranac Lake 12, Salmon River 8: Kaileigh Woodruff notched four goals and two assists and Kylie Sapone generated three goals and two helps to spark the Red Storm to the win. Sheila Decker (4 saves) and Katey Snyder (6 saves) shared crease duties.
